Want to Put a Smile on a Child’s Face?  Volunteer for Smiles 4 Canada!

A child’s smile is priceless, but if the child suffers from malocclusion, it can be very embarrassing to him/her.  We all know of the benefits of orthodontic treatment, but it isn’t always within the reach of everyone who can benefit from it.  That’s where you and Smiles 4 Canada come in.

Smiles 4 Canada is a program run by the Canadian Foundation for Orthodontics (CFAO) in conjunction with the Canadian Association of Orthodontists (CAO).  This program provides orthodontic care for low-income young Canadians who would otherwise not receive treatment.  The care is provided on a voluntary basis by orthodontists like you, who are willing to give of your time to put a smile on a child’s face.

Prospective patients submit an application to Smiles 4 Canada.  The application is assessed against financial criteria and ensures the applicant is a worthy of treatment through the program.

Successful applicants are seen by a participating orthodontist for a thorough examination and treatment planning.  If the orthodontist agrees to provide the patient’s treatment, the patient pays a non-refundable administration fee to Smiles 4 Canada before the treatment begins. This fee is retained by Smiles 4 Canada to contribute towards the cost of evaluating and processing the application, and promoting the program.

In this section of the website, you can find more information on the program, how it works, and how you can get involved.

We hope you will offer your services for Smiles 4 Canada – it can be a very rewarding experience!  To volunteer, please e-mail us at administration@smiles4canada.ca.  If you have questions that aren’t answered on this site, please contact us at that e-mail address and we will do our best to help you.

We look forward to working with you to put a smile on a child’s face!
